| | Ben Lee Breathing Tornados CD Ben Lee Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Aussie pop star Ben Lee's third release, BREATHING TORNADOS, picks up where his previous SOMETHING TO REMEMBER ME BY left off. Packed with acoustic guitars, driving drum lines and loops and Lee's pleasing, soulful voice--which appears bound for greatness--BREATHING TORNADOS is pure pop confection.
From the opening track "Cigarettes Will Kill You" to the soft and beautiful ballad "Finger in the Moon" and the hypnotic drum machine trot of "Sandpaperback," BREATHING TORNADOS shows a young artist focused on making his work stand out in the crowd. Lee's musical approach is reminiscent of Beck and others who mix up musical traditions. But, like Beck, Lee cuts across lines-his approach is universal and personal at the same time.
Live RecordingCMJ (3/1/99, p.3) - "...BREATHING TORNADOS proves Lee capable of experimenting with new forms of expression...[emphasizing] texture and rhythm, [Lee]... offers machine-made beats, keyboards, horns and weird samples....without abandoning the hooky pop and acoustic folk of his previous work." | Breathing Tornados Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Excellent! This is a great album. Ben Lee seems to have a "Matthew Sweet" sense of song-making where every song sounds like a hit and seems to have it's own purpose. Submitted by a reviewer (Hamden, CT) Was This Review Helpful? Breathing Tornados CD music
$14.29 Over the course of 15 albums and a 30-year career, Overkill have proven time and time again that they're one of the most relentlessly enduring bands in thrash metal. While modern bands have been taking metal into an increasingly esoteric direction, Ironbound shows that sometimes the old ways are the best ways. While the album may not have any studio trickery or meandering prog epics, what it does deliver is a dose of old-fashioned, full-speed-ahead thrash. With a classic combination of crunchy riffage backed by a furious double-bass drum stampede, Overkill delivers straightforward metal aggression without any neo-classical or prog pretensions. On the titular "Ironbound," guitarists Dave Linsk and Derek Tailer deliver a massive, chugging riff that manages to be intense without ever indulging in meat-headed ...

Breathing Tornados album
$7.19 The first good Jimi Hendrix collection, and one of the all time great best-of collections by any artist, SMASH HITS serves as a concise introduction to the Seattle guitar master's genius. Though far from a representative overview of Hendrix's career (AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE isn't represented, and 10 of the 12 tracks are from either the U.S. or U.K. versions of ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?), the collection is sequenced like a regular album, and in this respect may be the Experience's most consistently satisfying record.
These are the Hendrix tunes that have recieved the most media exposure over the years, from the primal blues-rock stomp of "Purple Haze" and "Foxey Lady" to the electrified murder ballad "Hey Joe" and the redefined Dylan tune "All Along the Watchtower. SMASH HITS has something in common with great Beatles records like RUBBER SOUL and REVOLVER; each song stands on its own as a fully formed progressive statement, yet the whole is greater than the sum of its uniformly excellent parts.
Recorded between October 23, 1966 & January 21, 1968.

| | Stevie Wonder Definitive Collection CD (2002)
Breathing Tornados CD music
$10.09 Missing in action for much of the 1990s, Stevie Wonder is a living legend whose consistent creative output is sorely missed. THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION provides a snapshot overview of Wonder's stellar legacy starting back in 1963 as a teen musical prodigy with the exuberant "Fingertips Part 2." This jubilant tune, showcasing Wonder's much-touted facility on the chromatic harmonica, is a powerful harbinger of things to come. Along the way are classics that find this Michigan native going from being a one-man Motown hit machine to a young artist whose vision eschewed singles-based sensibilities for album-long artistic statements.
Wonder's '60s gems include "I Was Made to Love Her," "For Once in My Life," and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered ...

Breathing Tornados songs
$9.89 DJ Krush's first stateside release is a fine affair; if Strictly Turntablized is the one most often raved about in the hip-hop underground with regard to his early work, that's not for this release's lack of trying. Working with a variety of his countrymen throughout, who tackle everything from guest vocals to a variety of instruments, Krush sets the late-night, smoky urban mood from the start and doesn't let up throughout. ...

$11.49 A while back I was trading slide guitar licks with Ray Wylie Hubbard live on the radio and thinking, "How cool is this?" So there I was, doing what I love to do best-play music. I know it may sound "hokey" to some but it's the whole point of me being ...
