Released in 2006, this HIM compilation finds the brooding Finnish "love metal" mavens offering up alternate versions of well-known album tracks. In addition to a handful of remixes (see the ominous Thulsa Doom reworking of "Salt in Our Wounds"), UNEASY LISTENING VOL. 1 presents acoustic renditions of the romance-obsessed songs "Please Don't Let It Go" and "The Funeral of Hearts." The collection's lushly orchestral take on "In Joy and Sorrow" vaguely recalls the moody late-1960s work of avant-pop crooner Scott Walker. While not the best introduction to the revered goth/rock band, UNEASY LISTENING is an excellent HIM rarities collection that is sure to please the group's international legion of diehard fans.

Uneasy Listening is a great addition to any HIM fans colloection. I wouldnt reccomend it for first-time HIM listeners, but for anyone else its amazing. I lvoe the origionals of all of these songs, but hearing the way that HIM can tweak them, or just play around with them is enthralling, as always. I personally love it.

Calming
This cd seems more calming but shows their music in a more beautiful form. Its a great cd and I think any HIM fan would like to have it in their collection.

this is an AMAZING CD!!!!!! some of the songs are a bit creepy at the end (lose you tonight) but other than that, it rocks. i am LOVING it.

Dont listen to all the other poeple telling u not to but this album it is one of the most beautiful and senual things that Ville Valo and HIM have offered although some of the songs do sound the same (like "joinme" and "for you") it is still a great album . true HIM fans will aprreciate the various styles of vocals and music that HIM can do. he has soft songs for just relaxing and thinking of a loved one and in-ur-face-wanna-kick-ass songs like "buried alive by love". i especially love what he has done with "it is all tears" it is one of my favorites as it was in "Greatest lovesongs vol.666" but what he has transformed it into is undiscribable his vocals are amazing in this song if you really like HIM you'll go out and by this album this is a MUST OWN ALBUM so to all HIM fans i say worship HIM adore HIM and GET THIS ALBUM!!!!!!

 I Agree With That Other Kid
Don't Buy This. "For You" Is A Joke, The Original Version is 1340572342340972 times better. Buy all of their other cds. download this from limewire or borrow it from a friend. save your money for HIM's new album coming out this year.

With The North Sea, Raising the Fawn returns to the studio as a full band instead of returning to main man John Crossingham's intimate bedroom setting. (Though, since The North Sea was actually recorded prior to the By the Warmth of Your Flame EP -- the band's first full-band recording to actually be released -- saying that is kinda reversing cause and effect.) While much of The North Sea still has a very intimate and brooding quality, something found in spades on Raising the Fawn's first self-titled full-length, the interaction of all of the bandmembers adds a lot of weight to even the airier bits. Even better, the band occasionally breaks out into an unabashedly poppy moment, such as on the gloriously upbeat and bass-driven "Gwendolyn."
